This is a Sako Vixen Heavy Barrel Sporter that is built on the L461 short action. Chambered for the .222 Remington cartridge, this rifle wears a 23-1/2" heavy weight barrel with the desirable "Bofors Steel" marking. There are no importer markings and this is a late "Pre-Garcia" rifle, made about 1971. The magazine release is of the "S" style variation. The stock features a beavertail style flat-bottomed forend, cheek piece, fixed factory swivels, and Sako marked plastic buttplate. Overall condition is excellent and about 98% of the original blue finish remains. There are only a few tiny handling marks and no rust or any pitting. The stock is in very good shape as well with some small handling dings but nothing very significant and no cracks or any chips. The stock finish is original and the checkering is sharp. I'd grade the wood at better than 95%. The mechanics are in perfect working order and the bore is excellent with bright, sharp rifling. This one should be an outstanding shooter!!
